When spring waters are warming on Lake Erie, anglers are seeking walleye action from Toledo to Conneaut. In days gone by, walleye fishers would take their small boats out by the islands or just off shore and dunk live bait or throw weight forward spinners tipped with nightcrawlers. There they would drift the day away, hauling in fine catches of pleasant-tasting walleyes. While that may still work occasionally, the successful Lake Erie walleye angler has changed tactics to reflect the changing conditions.
